Mokona

I wrote that they both suffered from fever and diarrhea and the vet is trying to figure out what it is. We ran several tests yesterday and ruled out some things. They are getting treatment for two types of bacteria for seven days. Mokona is very weak… he has high fever, but so does Misa. But Misa has always been sick so she’s actually quite cheery although she’s just as sick as Mokona.

Misa has made a lot of progress in the social sphere since the first visit to the vet. She sleeps in our bed, talks and wants to cuddle. We still can’t carry her or cut her claws. She still keeps a distance when we walk around her, but she’s not scared when we’re on her level (lying or sitting on the floor).

Misa has lived with us for a little more than a week. She’s avoiding us more for every day. But she lied in bed with us and purred last night. She even laid on top of my legs (on top of the duvet cover), but she spent most of the time in the bed on a big pillow behind Robin’s head. She does this only if she thinks that we’re not aware of her presence.

I’m doing my best just to ignore her right now, and see if she’ll feel more secure around us humans. She’s normal as long as we don’t look at her. She walks like a prima-donna-like walking style when she thinks we don’t watch her. She makes the strangest sounds when she plays. Sounds like someone is strangling her, but she looks happy…

We paid a visit to the vet yesterday and both cats got medication for two kinds of parasites plus worms. That’s a lot for a small kitten that recently went through a large surgery (castration). We let her live in the kitchen last night, and I also put the guest bed in there so we could spend some time together. We played and Misa played on her own with toys and candy wrap. She was jumping on me when I was sleeping and she is so adorable… sigh. what a cute kitten.

We’re going back to the vet with both cats within three weeks again. They’re going to be fine!
